Are Modern Horror Movies Any Good?

Everyone loves a good horror film. Excessive Tension is a French horror movie that suffers from a common horror film ailment: weak ending syndrome. George Romero practically created the zombie movie style single-handedly in 1968 with Evening of the Dwelling Dead. Critics Consensus: Although its underlying themes are familiar, Home of the Satan successfully sheds the loud and gory cliches of latest horror to ship a tense, slowly building throwback to the fright flicks of decades past.

A lot of this originality needs to be attributed to Clive Barker (producer and writer of the brief story The Forbidden,” which inspired Rose’s screenplay), whose signature is seen in the seductive, supernatural violence of the titular killer in addition to the inversion of typical feminine stereotypes seen in most horror movies.
